There are many things in this world that are broken in such a horribly massive way that they piss me off to no end. Here’s but a few.

The Timezone System

Timezones are 15 degrees. No more, no less. Each timezone is an hour. No more no less. Since there are 24 hours in a day, there should be 24 timezones, not 37.

China is not in one timezone. The outback of Australia is not 30 minutes from either coast, and 45 minutes in Nepal just doesn’t make any sense. Hell, even the US can’t get
its act act together. (Of course that’s because Indiana is stupid.)

We shouldn’t be using daylight savings since it doesn’t make sense. But if we do use it, then everyone must use it. Also everyone must start and stop using it on the same day on the same day.

Credit Card Usage

If I use a credit card, I should either have to sign everywhere, or nowhere. I vote nowhere, since it’s easier to simply stop printing little slips of paper, than it is to add
digital signature capture devices at
gas pumps and everyone’s home.

The CDDB/FreeDB/xmcd CD Database File Format

Storing data in comments is simply Wrong™. If you want to store information, store it in a tag. That’s what they’re for. Each tag should hold only piece of information. Storing both title and artist in *TITLE is wrong. It forces me to decide which “/” I’m supposed to seperate on If I they were stored in their own tags like they should be, then this wouldn’t be a problem. The EXT* fields are freeform. That means one has no idea what’s stored in them, making them a pain in the ass to parse, and even when you do parse it, you’re not sure if really got what you wanted or not. Let alone if the information is even stored. If you want to store information there, don’t. Create a tag. I’m talking specifically about year information. Multiple instances of a tag are wrong. Simply make your tag longer. There’s abolutely no reason why you can’t do this.

I actually have a fix for this one. No one uses it but me, but I don’t care. FreeDB has no more power over me.
