Today when I walking pass the ag department’s greenhouses I saw some students cutting some sort of straw mats in half with an axe. I thought “I bet that really dulls the axe.” Then, I thought that they could have two axes. One they used to cut down trees, doors, and whatnot, the other they used to cut straw mats in half.
My mom would keep two different pairs of scissors. One would have some mark or a ribbon tied around it, the other would be on marked. The marked one was for cutting paper, and pretty much everything else you can imagine you’d ever want to cut with a pair of scissors. I was allowed to use this pair. The other pair was for cloth, but she never really did much sewing.
If you were to go into my parent’s house today, and looked in the drawer with the scissors, you’d find two pairs of scissors. One you can use, the other you can’t.
